Introducing the Little Cooks Baking Cupboard

Our Little Cooks baking cupboard is a thoughtfully crafted space with a small gallery rail and a pegboard for hanging aprons and utensils at the perfect height for your “little cooks”. While the raised plinth not only brings them up to worktop height, it allows them to enjoy baking safely with all the family.

A Sweet Treat for Mother’s Day: Chocolate Rice Krispie Cakes with Mini Eggs

Engaging children in simple, no-bake recipes is a wonderful way to introduce them to the art of cooking. This Mother’s Day, try making these delightful Chocolate Rice Krispie Cakes adorned with mini chocolate eggs—a treat that’s as fun to make as it is to eat.

Ingredients:

  • 100g milk chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 50g unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 100g Rice Krispies cereal
  • 36 mini chocolate eggs

Method:

  1. Prepare the Workspace: With your child, set up the Little Cooks baking cupboard. Hang aprons on the pegboard and arrange the necessary utensils within easy reach.
  2. Melt the Chocolate Mixture: In a large heatproof bowl, combine the milk chocolate pieces, butter, and golden syrup. Melt gently over a pan of simmering water, stirring occasionally, until smooth. Be cautious not to overheat and burn the mixture!
  3. Combine with Rice Krispies: Gently fold the Rice Krispies into the melted chocolate mixture, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated. This step is perfect for little hands to assist with gentle stirring.
  4. Shape the Nests: Place paper cupcake cases into a muffin tin. Spoon the mixture into each case, then use the back of a spoon to create a small indent in the centre, forming a nest shape.
  5. Add the Mini Chocolate Eggs: Let your child place three mini chocolate eggs into the centre of each nest, pressing them down slightly so they stick.
  6. Set the Cakes: Transfer the muffin tin to the fridge and allow the nests to chill for about an hour, or until they are firm and set.
  7. Enjoy Together: Once set, remove the cakes from the fridge and enjoy the sweet creations you’ve made together.
